Tentatively it is... Drake Zander Kalani (last name here). Yep 2 middle names. We like too many names.
Drake: means 'Dragon' and he is born Year of the Dragon. Also we wanted a one syllable, masculine, un-shorten-able, common but uncommon handle. Importantly, it does not rhyme with anything bad.
Zander: We both happened to like this name for a middle.
Kalani: We wanted a Hawaiian name and had to ask my Great Aunt Nuni for approval. Some names are discouraged for being bad luck, some are sacred and need permission to use. Kalani means 'the heavens' and is a common name also a common family name in the Ahlos. My Aunt preferred Kalani. Me and Carrie felt it echoed the 'K' sound in Drake and the 'Y' sound at the end of our last name, tying it all together.
Naming is fun and tough. Things we considered is if the name rhymes with anything. Short syllable name create less opportunity to rhyme it. I also was considering if he ever wanted to be in entertainment or business and wanted to build searchable personal reputation online he should have an uncommon handle. In this process we found there is only 1 Drake to compete with for results who happens to be a terrible rapper. I predict he will be forgotten in a few years. Drake will be white/hawaiian/mexican so we also wanted to rep his nationalities. Drake is english and Kalani is Hawaiian.
